December 2nd Week of Music



The Mormon Choir of Greater Washington is performing in Frederick this Sunday evening (as well as at the Festival of Lights this Saturday night).  The location is 199 North Place, Frederick, Maryland.  The concert will feature familiar and beloved Christmas music to commemorate the earthly advent of the Savior and to celebrate the joyous spirit of the holiday season.  Their flyer is attached.

Two Messiah Sing Along Events

What is better than a Messiah Sing Along?  Two Messiah Sing Along events on the same evening this Sunday, December 3.  Please note that they begin at different times on Sunday evening, but both will end before the First Presidency Christmas Devotional.

6:00pm at Columbia Stake Center (4100 Saint Johns Lane Ellicott City, MD 21042-5347)

6:30pm at Washington DC Stake Center (10000 Stoneybrook Drive Kensington, MD 20895)

Announcement for Nathan Pacheco Concert

Nathan Pacheco, raised in Northern Virginia, and a Deseret Book artist and #1 Billboard Artist is performing at the Birchmere Theater, 7:30pm in Alexandria, Nov 27th - the Monday after Thanksgiving, to begin his Christmas Tour.

Announcement for College Music Concert Gala

This Saturday, November 11, at 7:00pm at the Visitor's Center we have the opportunity to hear music faculty from many colleges with strong LDS-based programs.  Faculty and alumni from BYU-Provo, BYU-Hawaii, BYU-Idaho, Snow College and Southern Utah University will perform a concert of classical, show-tunes, jazz and chamber music.  These fantastic musicians are visiting DC to participate in the Youth Music Open House on Saturday at the Stake Center.

Announcement for DC/Annandale Messiah Sing Along



This year the Messiah Sing Along sponsored by the Washington DC/Annandale Stakes will be held from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, December 3, 2017, in the Washington DC Stake Center.  Conducted by Dave Hardin, the Sing Along will feature an orchestra, guest soloists, and the you the audience as the choir.  Immediately after the Sing Along, all are invited to stay for the annual First Presidency Christmas Devotional message beginning at 8:00pm.  For the Sing Along, you may bring your own music or borrow a copy.  Hope to see you there.

Report for Music Conducting Workshop

Report of Music Conducting Work held at the Chevy Chase Chapel on October 21 from 9am to 12pm

The Washington DC Stake sponsored a Music Conducting Workshop the second year in a row.  This year featured a new Accompanying class.  28 people attended the workshop, with attendees from 12 stakes.  Four classes were offered.   After the workshop, the attendees enjoyed a nice luncheon.

Announcement for Youth Music Open House


To youth 12 to 18 years old interested in music,

WTO Movie Fanfare Concert

The Washington DC Temple Orchestra will be performing their Movie Fanfare Concert at the Temple Visitor Center at 7pm on Saturday, October 21. Some of their pieces include: Jurassic Park, Superman, Edward Scissor Hands, and the 1812 Overture.

2017 Conducting Workshop

On October 21, 2017 from 9am to 12pm, the Washington DC Stake will host its second Stake Conducting Workshop in a new location, the Chevy Chase Chapel at 5460 Western Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. Learn how to engage the congregation, tackle hurdles in hymns, and hold meaningful choir rehearsals. New to this year's workshop is a session just for accompanists. July 7, 7pm, The Utah Valley Children's Choir will perform "Heal Our Land" at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America.

July 8, 7pm, Washington DC Temple Orchestra will perform a Beatles Concert at the Washington DC Temple Visitor Center.

July 9, 7pm, The Utah Valley Children's Choir will perform "Heal Our Land" at the Frederick MD Stake Center.

Announcement of 2 Utah Valley Children's Choir Concerts





The UVCC, whose mission is to “Sing for the Lord,” uses sacred religious music to teach spiritual values and develop singing skills. The 160-member tour choir presents a special patriotic/sacred program under the direction of Ryan Eggett and Suanne Bowcut, accompanied by pianist Jodi King and organist Don Cook.  On this tour, they will perform 2 concerts in the DC area:
